Freestanding

A freestanding cabinet can be moved around as desired.

Built-in

A built-in cabinet is made to fit an exact space. It is permanently fixed in position, attached to walls and floor if necessary.

Frameless and Face Frame

Frameless

For a frameless cabinet, the front edges of the cabinets panels are visible.

Face frame

In a face framed cabinet, a frame is attached to the front of the cabinet.

Overlay

The doors and drawer fronts overlay the face frame, or the cabinet sides (in the case of a frameless design). The width of the door or drawer front is equal to the exterior size of cabinet, less a small reveal

Inset

The doors and drawer fronts fit inside the face frame, or cabinet sides (in the case of a frameless design). The width of the door or drawer front is equal to the  exterior size of cabinet, less the face frame or cabinet side width, less a small reveal.
